Can CBD Oil Give You More Energy?

Everyone can use a little extra pep in their step from time to time. Whether you’re a super parent, a high powered executive, or a busy school teacher, the rigors of day-to-day life can be more than exhausting.

Fortunately, there are a wide variety of CBD products that are specifically formulated for those days when you need a boost of energy to keep you going.

For years people have been turning to energy drinks to push them further, but we’re all starting to realize that they push a little too hard. The amount of sugar and variety of chemicals used in the average energy drink are startling, and have a large impact on your body. People often experience shakiness, heightened irritability, and some pretty off-putting sugar crashes when using a run-of-the-mill energy drink to keep them moving.

CBD companies are built on the idea that everyone should be enjoying the most natural formulations possible. When you use CBD products on those days that seem to last forever, you are allowing your body to indulge in a variety of desirable botanicals and a nice helping of high-grade hemp extract.

If you need to keep going long after the call of duty, reach for some CBD and prepare to be amazed!

The Adenosine and Endocannabinoid Systems

The Adenosine System is a series of receptors that help regulate various aspects of bodily function and neuroactivity. Adenosine can be categorized as metabolites that assist in signal transmission. These powerful metabolites help your body know whether it is time to sleep or be awake, and can be affected by a variety of different compounds.

The Endocannabinoid System is a series of lipid-based retrograde neurotransmitters that can be found throughout the body. Brain function, metabolic function, and homeostasis are all greatly impacted by the endocannabinoid system. Endocannabinoid receptors are split into two categories- CB1 receptors that are present in the nervous system, and CB2 receptors are found in the peripheral system.

The Adenosine A1 and Endocannabinoid CB1 receptors are both coupled with G proteins and colocalize in the Hippocampal CA3 Terminals. This helps to inhibit synaptic transmissions and protect against neurotoxins that can have a large impact on nervous tissue.

The co-action of these receptors is still not fully understood, but is of great interest to scientists due to the fact that many common indulgences such as coffee, tea, and CBD target both the Adenosine and Endocannabinoid systems.

CBD And The Sleep-Wake Cycle

The Adenosine system plays a large part in making you feel either tired or awake. Adenosine slowly accumulates in your blood throughout the day and when it has reached maximum capacity you start to feel tired and it is time to go to sleep.

Scientists believe that when you consume CBD it stimulates the endocannabinoid system in such a way that it inhibits the amount of Adenosine that enters your bloodstream. This is a very similar action to that of caffeine. When you consume caffeine, it also depresses the production of Adenosine and helps you avoid the feeling of mental exhaustion. Though there are no definitive answers, scientists have shown great interest and are currently studying the effects of CBD on the co-action of the Endocannabinoid and Adenosine systems.
