What is HHC?

Since the 2018 Farm Bill was passed and hemp became legal, the cannabis industry has been booming. First, it was the insane popularity of CBD. Now, there are a plethora of awesome cannabinoids for you to choose from. You can get down with some D8, have a heady experience with THC-O, or enjoy a mellow in-between with HHC.

There are a bunch of different cannabinoids for you to choose from these days and it's important for you to understand the difference. Well, you don't have to, but if you don't, you're just playing a guessing game. You're likely familiar with some cannabinoids like CBD and THC that have been popular for a long time. But, what is HHC?

HHC is a synthetic cannabinoid that is an analog of THC. In 1944, a man named Roger Adams added two hydrogen molecules to a THC molecule and thus, HHC was created. Though this compound has been around for a long time, it was very difficult to manufacture because hemp was illegal. Now that things are changing, HHC is quickly becoming one of the most popular cannabinoids available on the retail market.

Many people say that HHC feels similar to THC, but is far milder. This is perfect because it means that most people will be able to function at work and get things accomplished without any of the sleepy side-effects many feel when they use THC.

The cannabis plant has a whole lot to offer. From CBD and Delta-8 THC to Delta-9THC and HHC, each cannabinoid has a unique purpose and effect, and we highly recommend exploring to see what works best for you!

Understanding Cannabinoids

Having a good understanding of cannabinoids is essential for any cannabis enthusiast. These are the compounds that create the magic that this plant is known for. Well, it's not really magic. More like science. Essentially, cannabinoids are compounds that exist in both cannabis indica and cannabis sativa. Though both of these plants have a very similar chemical makeup, and both create all 113 cannabinoids, these cannabinoids are present in different concentrations.

Cannabis indica is often quite rich in CBD and CBG, while cannabis sativa typically has a higher concentration of psychoactive cannabinoids such as Delta-9 THC. Hexahydrocannabinol (HHC), is not a naturally occurring cannabinoid. It is synthetically produced by isolating Delta 9 THC molecules and adding two hydrogen molecules. Though scientists have not yet been able to quantify precisely how this changes the users experience from that of THC, the proof is in the pudding. People absolutely adore HHC.

Though this compound has not been publicly available for nearly as long as THC or CBD, it has quickly become one of the most popular cannabinoids out there.

What is The Endocannabinoid System?

So now you know where cannabinoids come from, but how do they interact with your body? The short answer is; the endocannabinoid system. What is the endocannabinoid system? It is a complex series of retrograde neurotransmitters that influence both the central and peripheral nervous systems.

There are various receptors in the endocannabinoid system and they each play a specific role. For our purposes, you need to know about the CB1 receptor and the CB2 receptor. THC interfaces with the CB1 receptor and affects different parts of the central nervous system, like your brain. HHC is a synthetic form of THC and interacts with the CB1 receptor.

CBD indirectly interfaces with the CB2 receptor and affects the peripheral nervous system. This is one o the reason you don't feel "high" when you take CBD.

THC and Hydrogen?

Yep! You read right. HHC is just THC with the addition of two hydrogen molecules. We have no idea why Roger invented HHC, but we love the guy for it! HHC is one o the chillest cannabinoids we've ever come across and our customers can't get enough. One of the things that people really appreciate about HHC is that its a sort of middle ground. It's not going to get you so lifted that you cant get things done, but you can definitely feel it. This brings us to our next question.

Will HHC Get Me High?

Yep! It sure will. But, it's really not that simple. HHC isn't going to get you high in the same way that smoking marijuana does. HHC does get you high, but it's far milder than other forms of THC. Most people say that they function perfectly well when and can work a full day without getting tired. We are constantly being told that HHC has increased a user's focus or helped them be relaxed enough to perform at their peak.

Does HHC Show Up On A Drug Test?

As you now know, HHC is a form of THC. Unfortunately, drug tests typically aren't able to distinguish between the various types of THC. This means that HHC definitely has the potential to make you fail a drug test. If you're worried about passing a drug test, we highly recommend speaking to your primary physician for advice before purchasing any cannabis products.

Is HHC Legal?

The legality of HHC varies from state to state. Some places are super chill about it and have very relaxed laws, and other states will put you in jail just for possessing HHC. It is important for you to understand the local laws surrounding cannabis products before you make a purchase.
